I’ve been a military spouse for over 24 years and while I am somewhat “seasoned”, I found there were many tidbits that I have flagged for future reference. If I were starting out as a new military girlfriend/spouse, this book would be a must have! While Meredith is a navy spouse, you can apply the info to all branches of service. It might not be exactly “on point” depending on the branch of service your spouse is with, but it guides you on what you need to know, the resources that are available to you and where you can go to get assistance. Well worth the cost. Wish it would have been available 24 years ago!

When I was engaged, my mother bought me this book. It gave me all the information, phone numbers, and places to go to organize a PCS move, learn ranks, and how to get into the system. A lot of wives said this was stuff they already knew, but a lot of newly married gals like me can really benefit from this book, especially when our husbands are TDY and can’t answer our questions. To any future military wife, BUY THIS BOOK!

Great information in this book! I am a National Guard wife of 17 1/2 years and how I wish this book had been available when my husband left for basic training all of those years ago. Even though some of the information in the book, such as for moving, doesn’t pertain to National Guardsmen, since my husband is now deployed for the second time in three years, and I am among other wives who are Active Duty, the book is a great resource when I am conferring with them about what they are going through. I also found other information in the book such as on other branches of the service, deployments and benefits to be educational and highly useful. Military life is not easy, and the more information that is available to people, the better. And, without the book I would’ve never known about CinCHouse, a wonderful on-line gathering of military significant others. I have a resource now for this deployment that I did not have during the last one and for that I am so grateful. Thumbs up way high for this book. Thank you Meredith!

As a fairly new military wife who became “seasoned” very quickly, I wish I had this book the day I married my Sailor! Being a military wife is a totally unique lifestyle and I think Ms. Leyva has done a wonderful job relaying the different resources available and expressing this lifestyle as an “adventure”. The personal stories from other wives experiencing this adventure were a great treat. It is alway comforting to know that you are not alone. I definetly recommend this book for the new military wife trying to wade through military jargon and bureaucracy.

I have been in the Navy for 2 years and still learned from this book! I especially love her reference to the corresponding website. I immediately went there and recieved even more information and lots of support from all particpating military wives and girlfriends. I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone who is joining up, getting “married to”, or simply wants more information.
As a military servicemember and wife, I give it two thumbs up!
