The Dynamics of Military Revolution bridges a major gap in the emerging literature on revolutions in military affairs. The Armed services is a good place to teach you the skills to be a successful business owner. I served 13 years in the Marines, and currently own an Rv dealership. The skills that the Corps taught me serve me well every day. To leave high school to join the service, understand that you will need a four year degree to attain a position as a pilot in most branches. The Army does have a high school to flight school for helicopter pilots but is a very difficult program to get accepted in. All branches of the service offer you educational programs even where you can take college courses on base while on active duty. Besides a degree, the leadership skills learned are unparalleled and hard to be found any where else. Good luck to you in your future.

Well to be a pilot in any branch of service, you have to be an officer, Warrant or Commisioned. Either way you go you’re going to be in for at least 4yrs just trying to become an officer. But, if you choose an enlisted job it’d be different. Granted it’s a lot tougher in many ways to be “just a soldier” but we are the ones that make stuff happen. You will be able to go to school while you’re on active duty but it’s not always easy. First you have to get accepted in a school then get your Commander’s approval, and blah blah. It doesn’t always work out the way you want it to but it does happen. If you do join the military don’t expect anything. Things can go either way at any time. I’m not a recruiter and before you make a decision make sure you know what you’re getting into. Oh, and if you do talk to a recruiter, remember this: Everything he tells you, if it sounds too good to be true or too easy, it’s not true.

I wanted to be all I could be, but all they would let me be is a mechanic, remember this! If you want education go to a college and get some, you won’t have as many people trying to kill you! But at 16 I sure they will be needing fresh meat for Iran by next year. and then you just have to get your parents to sign up for you!

you cannot become an air force or navy pilot without a college degree… !!! You have to be an officer and all officers have a to have a college degree… and have to be accepted to officer training school… if you have really good grades try to get in to a military academy… air force, coast guard and navy all have one you will get a 4 year degree and a commission when your done at no monetary cost to you just 4 years of service as a military officer.

The Army is the only branch that will teach you to fly without a degree. You can become a Warrant Officer (Career Pilot) and fly Blackhawks, Apaches, Chinooks, Kaiwas, or Little Birds. Plus, Army helicopter pilots are the best on earth.

  6. Kilroy says:

Not as a pilot. You have to be commissioned as a pilot in those branches, and you need a college degree to do that. The army has warrant officers who fly helicopters, but you need at least five years in before they even consider you for that.

You can join the military in your Junior year as a reservist. Your basic training will be during the summer of your Junior /Senior year. You will still have to do the one weekend a month and two weeks a year thing during your senior year.
If you sign a two year contract, you wil only have one year left by the time you are done with school, and you will (hopefully) already have some rank. Then you will qualify for Montgomery GI bill, which you can stay in the reserves while you are going to college, and your Unit Administrator of your Unit will help you with all of your college tuition and husing expenses and you will get a monthly check for your reserve time.
